Audition for Goodly

Thank you for your interest in performing with Goodly Creatures Theatre!

This summer, we are excited to produce Shakespeare’s classic As You Like It!

This production will be directed by Katrina Syrris, learn more about the director here.

Auditions are by appointment only, and will take place at Etc Coworking’s Main Conference Room from 7pm to 9pm on:

  • Wednesday, May 6th 

  • Thursday, May 7th

  • Callbacks (by invitation only): Tuesday, May 12th

We ask that you submit the following via email in order to schedule your audition.

Once your email is received, you will be contacted with your assigned audition date. 

Email info@goodlycreatures.com with your first and last name as the subject line.

In your email, please include:

  • Your best contact information (email and phone number)

  • Your headshot (or selfie) and resumé (or description of experience)

  • Your preferred roles and casting considerations

  • Any conflicts with rehearsals or performances

  • Your preferred audition date(s), or if you will audition virtually

    • If you plan to audition virtually, please include a link to your audition video. Further instructions below.​

Please note that your personal information is NOT shared with any third parties.

In Person Auditions: Be prepared for readings from the script. Familiarize yourself with the play and characters. Helpful resources include LitCharts and Royal Shakespeare Company.

Virtual Auditions: Please submit a video recording of your performance of one memorized monologue from any of Shakespeare’s plays. If you have a website or reels, feel free to include links to those in your email submission. Video auditions are due by Thursday, May 7th at 11:59pm.

  • Geneva, IL: Island Park, Saturday, August 1st at 6pm (Rain Date is Saturday, August 8th at 6pm) (Free to the public)

  • Schaumburg, IL: Meineke Park, Sunday August 2nd at 2pm (Rain Date is Sunday, August 9th at 2pm) (Free to the public)

  • Elgin, IL: Lords Park, Picnic Shelter East, Sunday, August 16th at 3pm (Rain Date is Sunday, August 23rd at 3pm at the Wing Park Bandshell) (Free to the public)

  • Algonquin, IL: Algonquin Bandshell, Wednesday, August 26th at 6:30pm (Rain Date is Wednesday, September 2nd at 6:30pm) (Free to the public)

  • Elgin, IL: Wing Park Bandshell, Saturday, August 22nd at 7pm (Rain Date is Sunday, August 23rd at 3pm at the Wing Park Bandshell) (Free to the public)

  • Swings' Performance, Dundee, IL: Saturday, August 29th at 6pm (Rain Date is Sunday, August 30th at 2pm in Dundee) 

    • This is a private performance, paid admission.​

  • Encore Performance & Fundraiser - Elgin Community College Homecoming Celebration: September 19th (Time TBD; paid admission fundraiser for ECC's Alumni Scholarship Fund)

Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will take place Monday through Friday from 7pm to 9pm, beginning in May. Please note that you will not be required to attend all rehearsals (with the exception of tech week), as a schedule will be made to accommodate absences, and will be organized based on scenes we’re rehearsing and who is necessary for those scenes. 


Tech week will take place the week prior to our first performance.


Rehearsals will be held in Dundee, IL, approximately 5 minutes from the 1-90 Exit (approximately 45 minutes from O’Hare). Location will be shared with cast and crew.

Compensation:
Every ensemble member will be paid a $125 stipend upon completion of the performance run.

Casting: Please note that roles are subject to double-casting, non-traditional, and integrated casting.
