Audition for Goodly

Thank you for your interest in performing with Goodly Creatures Theatre!

This summer, we are excited to produce Shakespeare’s classic Twelfth Night!

Auditions will take place at Etc Coworking’s Main Conference Room from 7pm to 9pm on Monday, May 6th, and Tuesday, May 7th. Callbacks will take place Tuesday, May 14th.

We will be hosting both in-person and virtual auditions this May. You may attend more than once. We ask that you submit the registration form in order to be considered for the cast. There is a button to access the form below.

Before opening the form, please be prepared to submit:

  • Your best contact information

  • Your headshot and resumé

  • Your preferred roles and casting considerations

  • Any conflicts with rehearsals or performances

Please note that your personal information is NOT shared with any third parties outside of Goodly Creatures Theatre.

In Person Auditions: Be prepared for readings from the script.

Virtual Auditions: Please submit a video recording of your performance of one memorized monologue from any of Shakespeare’s plays. If you have a website or reels, feel free to include links to those in your email submission. Video auditions are due Friday, May 10th at midnight. Please send your virtual audition to info@goodlycreatures.com with the subject line “[First and Last Name]: Shakespeare Audition]”. 

Performances: 

  • Woodstock Opera House in the Square: Saturday, July 27th at 6pm

  • Island Park, Geneva: Saturday, August 3rd (Rain date August 10th) at 6pm

  • Lords Park, Elgin: Saturday, August 17th at 3pm

  • Wing Park, Elgin: Saturday, August 24th at 7pm

  • Please note that we will have a private performance to allow swings the opportunity to perform for friends, family, and other interested parties. This performance date is TBD.

Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will take place Monday through Thursday from 7pm to 9pm, beginning June 1st. Occasional Friday rehearsals may be scheduled depending on cast availability. Please note that you will not be required to attend all rehearsals (with the exception of tech week), as a schedule will be made to accommodate absences, and will be organized based on scenes we’re rehearsing and who is necessary for those scenes. 


Tech week will be Monday, July 22nd through Friday, July 26th. 


Rehearsals will be held in Dundee, IL, approximately 5 minutes from the 1-90 Exit (approximately 45 minutes from O’Hare). Location will be shared with cast and crew.

Compensation:
Every ensemble member will be paid a $125 stipend upon completion of the performance run.

    (disguised as Cesario)

  • Olivia, an Illyrian countess

  • Maria, her waiting-gentlewoman

  • Sir Toby Belch, Olivia’s kinsman

  • Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Sir Toby’s companion

  • Malvolio, steward in Olivia’s household

  • Fool, Olivia’s jester, named Feste

  • Fabian, a gentleman in Olivia’s household

  • Orsino, duke (or count) of Illyria

  • Valentine, gentleman serving Orsino

  • Curio, gentleman serving Orsino

  • Sebastian, Viola’s brother

  • Antonio, friend to Sebastian

  • Captain

  • Priest

  • Two Officers

  • Lords, Sailors, Musicians, and other Attendants
